CardWorks, Inc., the parent company of Merrick Bank, was founded in 1987 to provide servicing, operational support and portfolio management to credit card issuers and acquirers. CardWorks is a premier third-party servicer of credit cards with operating facilities in Woodbury, New York and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. CardWorks, Inc is owned by its management. Its founder, Don Berman, serves as Chairman of CardWorks, Inc. and David Watson serves as President of CardWorks, Inc and Chairman of Merrick Bank.

It is a member of Visa, MasterCard, Discover and the top five major debit networks. Its primary merchant services operation is located in Woodbury, New York.

Merrick's ISO program began in 1999 and has experienced significant growth and profitability for itself and its ISO partners. ISOs that assume full liability are provided unique ICAs and BINs and may currently choose from five clearing and settlement processors.

Merrick also offers shared liability programs for agents who wish to primarily concentrate on sales. The Bank is receptive to sponsoring ISOs that possess proprietary services and technologies, and also supports Agent Bank programs for banks to market merchant services in their own names.
